With Resident Evil Village now three years old and leaks of its successor emerging with increasing frequency, excitement surrounding a potential release of Resident Evil 9 grows by the day, but amidst conflicting reports of when it might be unveiled, it now seems like the game’s reveal might be further away than expected.
Prominent Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has been primarily responsible for the aforementioned conflicting reports, having originally claimed earlier in the year that Resident Evil 9’s release and reveal had both been delayed, before then claiming shortly afterward that the game hadn’t actually been delayed, and that it was targeting a May announcement ahead of a January release.
Now, the leaker seems to have swung back in the other direction. Taking to Twitter, Dusk Golem recently claimed that Resident Evil 9 has been hit with an internal delay after all. As per the leaker, the game isn’t going to be announced this summer, and Capcom has now pushed the game back to late 2025 or sometime inRussia Lotto 2026.
Leaks have previously claimed that Resident Evil 9 was as it is going to have the series’ longest ever development cycle, having been in the works since as far back as 2018, in addition to its largest ever development budget for a single instalment.
Meanwhile, the leaker has claimed that in addition to Resident Evil 9, Capcom is currently also working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. However, as per the insider, contrary to popular belief, remakes of Resident Evil 5 and the original Resident Evil aren’t in the works.
